it's great, isn't it? I don't entirely agree that a definite distinction exists between genre and literary fiction (these boundaries are more porous in reality) but I do like that starting point of transparent language as a point of difference. "as if what was happening in the end wasn't only happening in language," yes. and agreed, the act of reading for self-validation seems dishonest sometimes.
