Hi, and welcome to the fifth flash round of Be The First! This is a low-pressure challenge to write a fic, of any length, for a fandom that previously had none. That's it! If you want to take part, just reply to this post :)

This flash round works exactly the same as usual, with the exception of one thing: instead of having two months to write, you now only have two weeks. The deadline to submit your fic is at 23.59 GMT on the 17th of September, and the archive will go live at 00.01 GMT on the 19th of September.

I finished The Coffin of Honey by Geoffrey D. Morrison (Coach House, 2026) yesterday. I still need to get my thoughts together, but holy shit, what a superb book. Speculative, humane, literary, expansively and unabashedly political? Amazing. I would give anything to be able to write a book like this.

Continuing the CanLit turn, I started Joan Barfoot's Abra (1978; also published as Gaining Ground), and I'm really into it.

I'm never going to get over this detail about the mercury pollution. I think that the phrase "pulp, the main ingredient of paper, has mercury in it", as if that's just a natural occurrence, is deeply disingenuous, however:

The Inconvenient Non-Indian: Thomas King inspired a generation of Native writers, including myself. Then we discovered he wasn’t Native at all. (Archive link). This is by Tommy Orange and it is excellent, deeply thoughtful and nuanced. I loved this reflection in particular:

There’s something else that happens when artists, specifically, turn out to not be who you thought they were. A kind of corruption of memory. When a vulnerable part of you has opened up to some piece of beauty or connection in a work of art by someone who turns out to not be who they said they were, that part of you will close back up. And worse, it will be less likely to open again.

Having met most of the Goes Wrong Show cast at the Comedy About Spies stage door, I found myself considering a question: what would the Cornley Drama Society be like at the stage door?

Robert absolutely loves the stage door. If no one comes to the stage door, as is frequently the case after Cornley performances, Robert will linger there for a while in the hope that someone might turn up. Whatever you say about his performance, he will manage to take it as a compliment. He shakes everyone's hand and will insist on you taking a photograph with him even if you don't request it. If Chris has already given you an autograph, Robert will attempt to cover up Chris's signature with his own.

Sandra also enjoys the stage door and will often give audience members a quick kiss on the cheek.

Annie is very friendly, very cheerful, happy to hug on request and will sometimes hug people spontaneously.

Vanessa is absolutely terrified by the stage door. She will give you an awkward smile and sign whatever you hold out for her to autograph; that's about as much as she can handle. If you attempt to engage her in conversation, she will freeze up immediately.

Max chats to everyone for ages; Trevor usually accompanies him and orders him to move along if he's holding things up for too long. If you request an autograph, Max will often sign multiple times.

Dennis is confused by the stage door. If an unknown person attempts to engage Dennis in conversation, he assumes they're an acquaintance he's forgotten. He will spend the entirety of your interaction trying to work out how he knows you. If you hand him a cheque or a contract to 'autograph', he'll do it; do not take advantage of this.

Chris is very defensive at the stage door and will get snippy at any hint of criticism, or at any mention that, God forbid, something might have gone wrong during the performance. No hugs or handshakes; he absolutely does not want to make physical contact. He will reluctantly agree to photographs but invariably looks deeply awkward in them, sporting the falsest smile you've ever seen.

Hi everyone! Just a heads up that Late Treat Bonanza will be starting later this month. It hasn't started just yet because there are a few admin tasks I still need to do, but I just wanted to give people a bit of a heads up regarding some minor updates to the rules this round:

1) AI works: Unfortunately, as some of you might already be aware, there's been a lot of issues and drama this year regarding people posting undisclosed AI works to AO3, in ways that have also affected the AO3-/Dreamwidth-based fanwork exchanges that this event centers around. As a result, I've decided to clarify this event's policy on AI works (including what I count as an "AI work"). The policy is available on the Rules and FAQs post. I am very much open to feedback about this, however (part of why I wanted to announce this a bit in advance of the next round starting), so please let me know what you think and if you have any questions or concerns.

2) Terminology change for "sign-ups": One thing that I've noticed confuses people about this event year after year is the relationship between the sign-up and work-posting parts of this event. While some of this confusion might be unavoidable, I think part of it is that most fannish events require you to sign up before you can submit works, which isn't the case for this event. Therefore, I am experimenting with replacing the terminology of "sign-ups" with the notion of "registering your interest" in late treats instead. It's a bit awkward phrasing, but I hope this change makes the format of the event a bit more clear! I'm still in the process of making all the necessary fixes around the community, but the Rules and FAQs post at least has been updated, so you can take a look at how they now read.

Yesterday, I went to see the Comedy About Spies matinée at the Adelphi Theatre! The Comedy About Spies is not a Goes Wrong production, but it is a Mischief Theatre production, and it stars most of the cast of The Goes Wrong Show.

Several other members of the Goes Wrong fandom were attending the same performance, so I met up with

Purple_vulture,

LancashireGirl and

you-know-your-name for a meal before the show! Both

Purple_vulture and

LancashireGirl told me that they previously hadn't much liked Robert, but my fanfiction had helped them like him. I was absolutely thrilled to hear I'd helped to bolster Robert's popularity within the Goes Wrong fandom. No higher praise.

We took our seats before the show;

you-know-your-name and I were sitting together. The stage had a silhouetted backdrop of the London skyline.

you-know-your-name suddenly pressed a hand over their face and started laughing.

you-know-your-name: Not me seeing Big Ben and thinking, Oh, it's that thing from Peter Pan.
Riona: I suppose you're not wrong!

Henry Lewis was very handsome and his hair looked great. That alone could have carried me very happily through a couple of hours, but, as a bonus, The Comedy About Spies is a very fun, very slick play, with great performances all around and a lot of ambitious physicality. I really enjoyed myself. What a lovingly done, absolutely committed performance of farce.

And then, emboldened by being in the company of another Mischief fan, I went to the stage door! I've never met actors at the stage door before, and I was slightly nervous, but it was a really good experience overall.

you-know-your-name was increasingly vibrating with excitement after every person we met, which was a delight to see.

I'd brought my Christmas Carol Goes Wrong script along, just so I had something that could potentially be signed. I wasn't sure until the last moment whether I'd actually ask for autographs; I knew I wanted to ask the actors whether they were willing to be hugged, and I thought that requesting autographs on top of that might be too much! But, when Greg came out with his own pen poised and ready, it immediately became clear that the actors were very relaxed about autographing things, so I did indeed get signatures in the end.

When I got home, I told my housemates (who enjoy the Goes Wrong Show) that I'd shaken Henry Lewis's hand, and that I'd hugged the actors of Vanessa, Annie, Chris and Trevor.

I wandered out of the room, and then paused. Something didn't feel right. I flipped my Christmas Carol Goes Wrong script open and double-checked the signatures.

I poked my head back into the room. "I've just realised that, appropriately enough, I forgot that I also hugged Jonathan's actor."

I feel bad about it. I'm sorry, Greg! You were so nice!

Briefly, A Delicious Life, by Nell Stevens

An odd little novel that essentially tells the story of George Sand's life, in particular her spell in Mallorca with her children and Chopin, but with a frame story of a young medieval ghost who is enthusiastically and bisexually haunting them. This is a very fun way to write a biography. Not necessarily more than that, but that’s enough for me.

The Original, by Nell Stevens

Having now read two by Nell Stevens, I’ve decided I really like her species of wry, sensual, contained stories, deliciously full of doubles and projections. In this novel, an aspiring art forger must determine if her long-lost but recently reappeared cousin is himself or an imposter, raising questions of authenticity, falseness, copying, embodying, creation, reinvention. All this is wonderfully posed both as a meditation on art (some great ekphrasis in this, including some totally left-field art criticism that lets me know that Stevens looks at paintings with a creative eye) and a seemingly endlessly capacious metaphor for queerness. I liked how the novel accreted ever-more stories, details, adjectives as it went on, just as an oil painting accretes layers. There were a few interludes where I thought, “You didn’t have to spell the theme out that much,” but there is also plenty that remains unresolved, open to exploration. Great fun, will be reading the rest of Stevens’ oeuvre at some point.

Summer Will Show, by Sylvia Townsend Warner

This book is about revolution. It’s about the revolution — that of 1848, French — and it’s about personal revolutions that free one to join The revolution. Cold Tory aristocrat Sophia loses her children to smallpox* and goes to France to pursue her wayward husband into giving her another, only to find that she is twice as infatuated with his storytelling, electric, radical Litvak mistress, Minna, as he is. She is drawn further and further into the ferment of the revolution, renouncing her status, her property, and preparing to renounce her life.

STW of course was a committed socialist, but she was also an incredibly incisive portraitist of human nature with a strong ironic streak, so this is an extremely conflicted book, as perhaps the choice of 1848 itself shows. I think if I had to sum it up in a word, it would be “quixotic.” I think STW really tried to write a book for the glory of the revolution, complete with semi-triumphant ending with symbolic Communist Manifesto, but everything is troubled by everything else. There’s the 1848 of it all, of course, and there are also the prejudices seeping through every page, hobbling the revolution just as much as the bourgeois society Sophia escaped.

While all of this had much to recommend it, the book is also chock-full of racism. There is pervasive antisemitism directed at Minna by Sophia. I personally felt it was very carefully drawn and intentional, troubled in the text by STW's authorial voice, but it is very much the perspective of the main character. Much more problematic, for me, was the racism directed at Caspar, Sophia's mixed-race nephew. In his case, I felt that the grotesque antiblackness directed his way by Sophia and almost every other character was not undercut by the narrative voice and instead seemed to represent something much more like STW's own perspective. It spoils the book for me.

(As a side note: in the introduction, Claire Harman insists on the strictly lesbian nature of both STW and the main characters in this book, at least two of whom are definitely bisexual.)

Couplets, by Maggie Millner

In which the poet (nominally) tells a story of self-realization and sexual self-acceptance in the form of couplets. In which the poet utterly fails to commit to this conceit. In which the reader understands that part of what the book is doing with its nearly-nonexistent slant rhymes and loose enjambment is commenting on the frailty of The Couple and the couples in this book. Nevertheless. If you’re going to write a book with the conceit of it being in structured couplets, I expect couplets. I’m sort of imagining a better world where Mimi Khalvati was a lesbian and/or just decided to write a book in couplets about lesbians. She would have committed to the bit!!

Ink Blood Sister Scribe, by Emma Törzs

This novel impressed me by managing to do something fresh with the "Fantasy Novel About Books" micro-genre, which can be perilously smug. This book is not smug at all! In fact, it has a pleasant wry distance to it and a refusal to take books as the center of a moral universe. It rotates between three main characters, a young, pretty, isolated librarian; a young, pretty, isolated Aristocratic Young Man; and, most interestingly, a surprise-Sephardi bisexual drifter who begins the novel trying to go steady with her first long-term girlfriend while they are both working as seasonal laborers in Antarctica! It is this relationship which sets off the exciting events of the book in classic urban fantasy fashion, garnished with a small-town grocery store, a put-upon bodyguard, and strained mother-daughter relationships galore: all delightful touches. There was good pace and tension throughout, and while the dialogue sometimes clunked, I think this is a really interesting and promising fantasy debut, and I will be keeping an eye on Emma Törzs.

I think we are winding down the “Women in Translation” rec list! Or at least, what’s left of it is significant outnumbered by the other things now on my TBR. But last night I finished We Had to Remove This Post by Hannah Bervoets, translated from Dutch by Emma Rault. This novella was book #19 from the list, and is about a woman who works as a content reviewer for a big social media corporation.

This book rockets by; it’s only 134 small pages, so things devolve quickly. The meat of the story is about the impact of the job on the protagonist, Kayleigh, and her coworkers, as narrated by Kayleigh to an attorney in the aftermath of the job.

I think the book could have benefitted from being a big longer, giving us some more time to get to know Kayleigh and her comrades at the start, but assuming they were all relatively normal people when they began, you get a pretty grim picture of their constant exposure to the utter dregs of the internet changes them.

One guy comes in with a taser one day to threaten a manager who gave him too low a ranking on his accuracy in deciding whether posts stay up or not. He’s back at work days later. Another worker, not long out of high school, becomes a flat earth conspiracist after reviewing their videos day in and day out. Holocaust denial starts sprouting among them. They drink, they smoke, the jokes they share amongst each other become increasingly dark and echo the language they see in the posts they review.

A lot of the impact is filtered through the lens of Kayleigh’s relationship with one of her coworkers, Sigrid. Kayleigh and Sigrid’s differing views on their relationship becomes a significant point of contention as the book progresses. As Sigrid turns to increasingly ridiculous solutions to the obvious trauma the job is inflicting on them (she’s convinced powdered supplements and going to bed at 7:30 can turn things around), Kayleigh continues to cling to Sigrid as a buoy, past the point of rationality.

It opens up a necessary conversation about the impact of jobs in content moderation. We started with a group of people who were, presumably, relatively normal, and watch how their sense of logic is eroded both by constant exposure to violence and conspiracies, as well as secondary trauma.

It also toys heavily with the unreliability of our own perception: who is more right about their relationship, Kayleigh or Sigrid? Is there a “true” answer, or only each of their increasingly disparate realities? It plays into the book's overall themes on censorship and viewpoint. Who decides? Who's version of truth is true? The hairsplitting minutia that govern the rules on what the moderators should or shouldn't leave up recur again and again; late in the story, Sigrid and Kayleigh argue over their own sex tape, about whether it would be taken down for sexual coercion or not.

I would have liked a longer book with a deeper dive into the characters and their descents, but the current length keeps the book punchy, if it leaves you with questions. As more and more of life goes online, what is the best way to handle content moderation? Because this book definitely portrays the existing system as untenable.

The sections of this letter are of different lengths, but this does not mean I want the fandoms with shorter sections any less. I really liked Cameron Reed's What We Are Seeking overall. It has a lot to recommend it. But while I unreservedly loved the first half, I found myself increasingly disappointed and frustrated with the turns the story was taking as I read through the second.

I should say that many of my thoughts here came from a) a conversation with Tumblr user moongoer, and b) another conversation with skygiants and brownbetty on Mastodon. Credit where credit is due!

Judge my end-of-summer baihe reading choices! This time, our candidates are:

And Then the Skeleton Laughed Out Loud (然后骷髅笑出了声, pinyin: ranhou kulou xiao chule sheng), an unlimited flow novel by Li Qiu Lang (李秋琅). I chose this partly because I wanted to read an unlimited flow novel and this was the shortest one I could find, and partly because the title sounded fun.
My Crybaby CEO (总裁她总是哭唧唧, pinyin: zongcai ta zong shi ku jiji), also by Li Qiu Lang. I have this on my shelf and sometimes you just want a (hopefully) cute CEO romance as a palate cleanser for your brain.
That Time I Was Transported into an Omegaverse Novel and Got Marked by the Female Lead (穿书后我被女主标记了, pinyin: chuanshu hou wo bei nüzhu biaoji le) by Xiao Wu Jun (小吾君), mainly because I've been vaguely meaning to read something by her for a while and this seems to be her most popular baihe novel.
To Prolong Life (续命, pinyin: xuming), a historical-set novel with supernatural elements by Yi Tian Ba Bei Shui (一天八杯水). Again, an author I've been meaning to read for a while, I wanted a novel with a historical setting to balance out the list, and this seems to be her most popular historical.
Fireworks in Winter (冬日花火, pinyin: dongri hua huo) by Min Ran (闵然). Hit contemporary tragedy from last year. Reading it mostly to see if it lives up to the hype, and also because I have the print edition.
Of Inkstones and Young Tea (砚品新茗, pinyin: yan pin xin ming) by Shi Wei Yue Shang (时微月上). A xianxia title to round off the list.

An Abbreviated List of Things What Happened During Bestie Week
(aka I went and stayed in hafnia's yurt for a week and it was great)

- Watched Gid (one of the cats) slowly become BRAVE about being in the same room as me (at the start he'd walk around the corner, see me, and immediately flee! by the end he was Mostly Okay with being in the same room as me so long as something was between us) (Jenn says he was very ??? about me being GONE since he'd finally accepted that I existed in his space. xD)

- Went BLACKBERRY PICKING for purposes of making jam and also jam tarts. Discussed the consequences of going too deep into the blackberry brambles and what sort of curse would be laid upon one when eaten by the brambles. I forget how we said it'd be broken, but not by true love's first kiss probably. xD Inconvenient, and all that. Figure that blackberries are probably unseelie, though, so... Plenty of stuff to play with if one wants to be silly.

- I tried disc golf, due to Max really loving it, and was informed that I was Very Good at picking up physical skills and that it was impressive that by the end I did actually make par on one of the holes. xD It was fun! I'm unlikely to get into it, but definitely something I'd agree to do again if someone offered.

- Went to THE BEACH. <3 The Pacific Ocean my beloved, the entire reason I brought a hoodie on this nice summer vacation, because I know how the Pacific works and the marine layer did indeed mean it was CHILLY and also mostly overcast when we were by the sea. It even started raining, a fine mist, as we left. But hey, we got to see tidepools! Finally! Meant to get to them last year but didn't have the time. Absolutely worth it. I have so many pictures of the sea. I waded through the sea and got splashed up to my thighs a few times, which was to be expected, and was like "wait perhaps part of why you keep noticing when you step on the little dead jellies and I don't is that my feet are kind of numb from the water" at Jenn. Scrambled around on rocks, admired birds, all sorts of good things.

- Tried shooting some guns, because Max owns some and likes teaching people, and it was neat! Had fun with it, enjoyed figuring out how the sights worked, target shooting is neat. We also found some chicken-of-the-woods, bright orange against the green of the trees and the sorrel-covered ground, and that was a fun surprise.

- Went for a HIKE by which we mean a longer-than-expected walk on trails that had fairly gentle grades, just y'know like 6 miles of them instead of the intended maybe 2 miles. xD Turned right instead of left right after the parking lot, and thus the bit of the woods that was the intended loop was instead at the very end. (Apparently this has happened to Jenn before with this specific trailhead. Somehow this did not prevent it from happening again.) Could've turned back sooner! Didn't! Jenn sort of died and I was like "aha I see that I have indeed recovered from the hysterectomy, excellent" about this. Very pretty! Also the hottest day I was out there, which helped nothing but I was all "y'know I don't really mind it being like 90F because it's not HUMID" and Jenn was like "it is still Too Hot in the sun though", which was fair, because it was significantly nicer in the shade.

- Was fed VEGAN ICE CREAM, my beloved (got CHOCOLATE because I am tired of fruit flavors due to how often sorbets are the vegan option xD it was very good chocolate ice cream!)

- Went and met another friend who lives vaguely in the area, talked about D&D a lot, had a good time just hanging out. Important to see friends and talk about silly things and the like!

- Spent a bunch of time chilling and reading, tbh. Nice to just be present together and get to hug and lean on each other and enjoy being in the same place and all that. <3

- Played the character creation part of Baldur's Gate 3 for the very silly reason of planning to do a playthrough where Jenn's streaming it for me because I will never play this game on my own but I will have a lot of fun playing it with her and also seeing if we can get a Nice Lesbian Romance out of it. xD Which means: I get to do character creation and make a completely different kind of character than Jenn usually does. She was like "I don't know what I expected" when she saw that I'd made a dragonborn. (I like them a lot! They're fun! And BG3 is balanced so that you can pick everything based on #aesthetic if you want so long as you aren't doing a hard mode, so...)

- Saw some local bookstores! Did not buy any books! Also went to a local game store and did not buy any games! But it's good to look and see what there is, even if one doesn't buy it outright... (Did buy some yarn-themed wooden earrings for my best local friend, after sending them a photo and going "blue or gay" about it because those are obviously the two color possibilities for them.)

- On the way back my second flight was delayed by two hours, which meant I ended up spending a bit over an hour sitting on the airport floor watching Jenn stream Blue Prince because she'd just unlocked a very late-game puzzle. Delightful, silly, good way to spend the time. xD And then I was on the correct side of the airplane to watch the eclipse through the flight, which was in the air (and thus above the cloud layer) from pretty much when the shadow started covering the moon to when it was almost at its highest coverage. Didn't see any reddening of the moon, alas, but it was still really fun to see an eclipse whilst in the sky myself.

- Got home at 1:30am and my cat was just THRILLED to see me again. She's always affectionate when I get home, even when I've just been gone for work, but it's much more dramatic when I was gone for so long; she kept climbing on me and nuzzling me while I was trying to sleep, which means I didn't sleep particularly well but is incredibly cute. She's curled up next to me (well, like a foot and a half away from me) on the couch now, happily asleep now that all is right with her world again. <3

Here are some responses to Goes Wrong Show questions I've received on Tumblr!

mygoeswrongblog: What sort of fashion do you think Robert wears in day to day life?

I think Robert likes good-quality clothes, but he hates spending money, so he'll steal nice clothes from friends when he can get away with it. The members of the drama society are largely safe because nobody else is his size, but Robert's definitely pilfered some ties and hats, and he'll often take his play costumes home, meaning that some of the clothing he wears in his day-to-day life is extremely period-inappropriate.

When he's choosing his own clothing rather than just taking whatever falls into his hands, I think he's a tweed coat and button-up shirt man. Nice cardigans and jumpers. Corduroy trousers, maybe. I suspect he often wears hats.

mygoeswrongblog: How do you think Robert would react if HE was mugged out of the blue on the street? How do you think Robert would react if CHRIS was mugged on the street next to him?

If you mug Robert, there are two possibilities:

- he flings his money at you and runs away in terror, or
- he doesn't even realise he's being mugged; he thinks you've stopped him for an autograph, which he cheerfully gives you. You are too confused to pursue the mugging.

If you try to mug Chris, on the other hand, Robert will physically attack you. You have chosen to target Chris, who is, of course, a weakling; Robert will therefore conclude that you are weak yourself, meaning he will have the confidence to fight back against this cowardly attack on the drama society.

Robert drives you off, leaving Chris extremely shaken, partly because of the mugging and partly because he's not sure how he feels about being saved by Robert.

shinkengreen: What Pokemon would you give the Cornley characters in a Pokemon crossover or au?

Sandra has a Baile-style Oricorio: a passionate performer with a short temper. Its red plumage also reminds me of Sandra's Haversham Manor outfit. She has to leave it at home for drama society business; Chris has imposed a strict ban on Fire types.

Trevor has a bunch of Magnemite that he sends floating around the set to perform tasks. They keep pulling each other off-course and getting stuck together.

Max has a Mr Mime that all the others find unbearably creepy. He simply does not understand this. It's basically a clown, right? Clowns are funny! Why are you guys being so weird about it?

Robert has something unfeasibly enormous that he insists on trying to bring into rehearsals and performances. An Onix, perhaps.

Chris does not have a Pokémon. He thinks that owning a Pokémon is a frivolous waste of time and resources. Max is appalled when he first learns this. Robert just nods and says, 'Yes, you seem like that sort,' and Chris worries for some time afterwards about exactly what 'sort' he seems like.

Annie has an assortment of Pokémon that she thinks are really cute, but her idea of 'cute' doesn't always line up with the mainstream. Things like Palpitoad. Actually, the fact that frogs are the only thing she can paint sort of makes me want to give her a bunch of frog/toad-themed Pokémon: Palpitoad, Croagunk, Politoed, Froakie.

Vanessa has a Delcatty, which she chose because she wanted a Pokémon that would keep itself clean. She is stressed out to discover that, although Delcatty does diligently groom itself, it also eats and sleeps whenever it pleases; she'd prefer something with a more predictable daily routine.

Jonathan has a Cofagrigus and frequently gets trapped inside it.

Dennis has Arceus. The others discover this when they stumble across Dennis taking God for a walk one day. Dennis is perplexed by their reactions; he just happened to catch it and has no idea it created the universe.

While I'm thinking about stupid Death Note crossovers, here's my response to an anonymous question I received on Tumblr a month or so ago: what if light woke up in hope peak academy? what if, he didn't have the death note?

It’s interesting to contemplate Light in a Danganronpa situation! He’s willing to kill, obviously, but he’s used to killing in the distant, detached way the Death Note enables.

Without the Death Note, I think Light would end up trying to set up traps, trying to find ways he can kill without being in the room himself at the time. He reasons that this is the logical thing to do because, if he’s not at the crime scene, it’s harder to pin him as the culprit. And he’s not wrong! But it’s also because he doesn’t want to kill someone with his own hands; he finds the thought of stabbing or strangling someone disturbing. He wants something detached; he wants to keep himself clean.

He doesn’t like to acknowledge this; it’s a weakness in his eyes. So he’ll just keep telling himself that he’s taking the most logical course of action.

(He might also be willing to use poison as a method, come to think of it.)

Light’s first choice of victim would be someone whose death he can easily justify to himself. He’d target someone like Mondo. A violent delinquent, a gang leader; who’s going to miss him?

If he struggles to kill Mondo, though, he’s willing to switch his victim to someone he considers easy to kill, like Chihiro or Naegi, or to whoever poses the biggest risk in trials, i.e. Kirigiri. He justifies this to himself by telling himself it’s essential for him to get out of here. After all, it’s his duty to rid the world of crime, isn’t it? Sometimes sacrifices must be made.

There are two ways I envision things going if Light ends up in the first Danganronpa game:

1) Light uses a trap to kill Kirigiri and assumes he’s home free; nobody else has the intelligence to pin him as the culprit. He’s outraged and incredulous when Naegi unravels his plan in the trial.

2) Light spends several chapters planning the perfect crime, assuming nobody’s capable of taking him down, and ends up getting murdered by someone else before he can carry it out.

In news other than organizing manga, I also watched Project Hail Mary finally! It was an excellent movie, I hate that stupid Ryan Gosling and his stupid rock spider alien made me cry. Highly recommend watching if you haven't yet, I thought it was funny and engaging. For some reason I thought it was going to have a sadder ending lmao.

There's also construction happening right outside my neighborhood and turning the road into a one-lane road, which is so annoying because I have to sit in traffic every time I need to leave or enter the neighborhood. No idea what they're doing, they're cutting open the road so maybe they're putting in pipes or something. Either way I wish they'd hurry up but they've got a long stretch of road marked down so ughhh.
